Social Initiatives

The promoters of Vin Group believe that there is a greater purpose to a business than simply making money. They also believe that random acts of philanthropy do not create lasting impact.

Also, there is a concern that “Doing Good” should not take Vin Group away from its main objective of manufacturing and distributing high quality additives for plastic and rubber industries.

At Vin Group, the promoters as well as team members have greatly benefited from the public education. However, many Indian children in rural and tribal areas still do not have access to schools and education.

Keeping these various factors in mind, Vin Group, as a policy, donates 1.5 % of its profits to the cause of spreading education in rural and tribal India. We believe that instead of making small contributions to many organizations, bigger impact can be created by channelizing all of its CSR funds to one organization – namely Ekal Foundation.

n 1986, inspired by the efforts of early Vivekananda workers, a group of young educationists began work with the primitive tribes in the dense forests of Jharkhand. Notable amongst them were Late Dr. Rakesh Popli (a USA-returned nuclear scientist) & his wife Smt. Rama Popli (a child education expert). They refined the concept of the ‘one-teacher school’ amongst the tribes of Gumla (125 km away from Ranchi, Jharkhand).

Two years later, Shri Madan Lal Agarwal established similar schools in 60 villages near Dhanbad.
The Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation is an organization that initiates supports and runs non formal one teacher school popularly known as Ekal Vidyalayas all over the country.

It is the largest and growing non-government education initiative in India. It works on the model of single teacher school- Ek Shikshak, Ek Vidyalaya meaning one teacher for every school.

The mission of Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation is to open 100,000 schools and eradicate illiteracy from rural and tribal India. Their continuous and dedicated efforts to bring education are succeeding. As of March 2012, the number of schools run by Ekal Foundation stands at nearly 36, 783.

This Ekal movement is appreciated and has helped in spreading education and literacy to formerly unreached areas of the country.

To work actively for this social cause, Vin Group supports Ekal Foundation work by adopting some schools. Ekal Foundation is receiving immense help through the large number of volunteers who devote their time and money, thus keeping overheads very low.

For an amount of just Rs. 16, 000 (~ US$ 365 – that is just one US Dollar a day) a school’s running expenses shall be taken care for a year. To donate to the Ekal Vidyalaya cause, please click here.
