Powder Coating

Powder coating is a kind of coating which is used as a free flowing, dry powder. It is a method of applying dry paint to a part. One of the main features of powder coating is that it hardly needs a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form and this is the only essential difference between a powder coating and a conventional liquid paint.

The application of coating is done electrostatically after that it is cured under the heat that permits it to flow and form a skin. The powder may be of thermoset polymer or thermoplastic. It is mostly utilized to form a hard finish which becomes stronger than conventional paint. Powder coating is precisely applied for coating of metal like aluminium extrusions, automobile, whiteware, bicycle parts etc. Advanced technologies permits other materials like MDF (Medium- density fibreboard) to use the application of powder coating by using various methods.

Following are the main features of powder coating over conventional liquid coatings:

Powder coatings emit zero or near zero volatile organic compounds (VOC).

Without running or sagging, it can produce thicker coatings than conventional liquid coatings.

Powder coating overspray can be recycled and thus it is possible to achieve nearly 100% use of the coating.

Its production lines generate less hazardous waste.

Capital equipment and operating costs for a powder line are generally less than for conventional liquid lines.

A wide range of unique effects is easily accomplished which would be impossible to ach

The items of Powder Coating have usually small number of appearance differences between horizontally coated surfaces and vertically coated surfaces than liquid coated items.
