Butyl Rubber Processing

.

Background:
Butyl rubber is a synthetic rubber, a copolymer of isobutylene with isoprene. Butyl rubber has excellent impermeability, and the long polyisobutylene segments of its polymer chains give it good flex properties. Butyl rubber is impermeable to air – making it an ideal candidate for tire inner tubes.

butyl-rubber-processingProblem:
Sulfur does not disperse very well in Butyl rubber. This leads to batch to batch variations and high scrap rates, both of which reduce profitability.

Solution:
CureWel
is a pre-dispersion of Sulfur in damp powder form. Using CureWel ensures uniform dispersion and curing of the Butyl Rubber. Consistency of properties is maintained. Scrap generation is reduced, leading to increased profitability.
