FRP, BMC, SMC Processors


frpFibre reinforced plastic (FRP) is made up of various parts of material  that  comprises polymer matrix reinforced with fibres. The fibres are generally glass, aramid or carbon however, other fibres like wood or paper or asbestos are also used. The polymer is usually an epoxy, vinylester or polyester thermosetting plastic, and phenol formaldehyde resins are still in use. FRP are generally used in the automotive, industries construction, marine and aerospace.

Bulk moulding compound(BMC) is used to mold, fiber reinforced thermoset polyester material that is basically applied in injection moulding and compression moulding. The material is available in bulks or logs.bulk-molding-compound

The manufacturing of the BMC includes  chopped glass fibres in a mixer with polyester resin. BMC comprises glass fibre that result in best strength properties as compared to thermoplastic products. Typical application comprises the demand of electrical application, automotive, corrosion resistant needs, appliances and transit.

Sheet moulding compound (SMC) is used to mould fibre-reinforced polyester material that is basicly applied for compression moulding. The sheet is available in rolls that are weighing up to 1000 kg.

smcSMC is consist of a process and reinforced composite material. This is manufactured by dispersing long strands  of chopped glass fibers on a bath of polyester resin. SMC of longer glass fibres result in best strength properties as compared to standard bulk moulding compound (BMC) products. Typical applications consist of demanding electrical applications, structural components at low cost, automotive, corrosion resistant needs, and transit.

SMC proves to be beneficial due to very high production ability, performs effective role in reproducibility, its cost effective as low labor requirements per production level is good and industry scrap is cut down substantially. Weight reduction, due to lower dimensional requirements and it has a capability to consolidate various parts into one, thus in this manner it is also beneficial. The flexibility level also exceeds various counterpart processes.
