Over a period of time, Vin Industries has a number of achievements to its credit.
These include the following:
a. Grafted polymers like Maleic Anhydride grafted Polymers, Acrylic Acid grafted polymers and GMA grafted polymers find increasing usage in the various application areas like:
- As Coupling Agent in Polymer compounding (for Glass Filled PP / Nylon)
- Impact modifiers for low temperature toughening of Nylon
- As a Compatibilizer in Recycling of mixed polymer streams (Creating useful alloys)
- Creating metal / polymer adhesion (like Al / PE adhesion) etc.
These polymers have been imported in India from renowned manufacturers like Dupont (Fusabond and Bynel), PolyOne (Polybond), Eastman (Epolene) and others.
For the first time in India, VIN Industries developed a range of grafted polymeric resins called VinBond™ – based on indigenously developed technology.
We did not copy anybody’s technology, we did not purchase somebody’s technology – we developed our own formulations. As a matter of fact, customer surveys indicate that VinBond™ is considered to be “clearer” amongst grafted PP compared to competitive imported grades.
Recognizing our technological skills, we have also been granted a patent by the Indian Patent Office on synergistic usage of VinBond™ with other additives for enhancing properties of mixed scraps.
Over last 6 years or so, we have been successful in replacing imported grafted products at a number of customers in India. We are now focussing on exporting VinBond™ and on application development in India for applications unique to the Indian subcontinent.
b. Multi Layer films are used in packaging of edible materials / foods / meat to provide oxygen and moisture barrier. Examples of multilayer film would include and is not limited to films used in packaging “Ghee” (Butteroil) and Edible oil, packaging “Paan Masala” and like.
- During production of this multilayer film, around 8% Scrap / industrial waste film is generated. This is typically from the side trim / waste / misprints etc.
- This multilayer laminate film can not be currently recycled since it has dissimilar polymers like Polyethylene and Polyester or Polyethylene and Nylon.
- This waste was being incinerated (burnt). This leads to generation of Carbon Dioxide – which promotes the Greenhouse effect and has a negative effect on the environment.
- Using ScrapAlloy™ additive and the novel recycling process developed by Vin Industries using the grafting technology, this multi layer scrap which was not being processed earlier, is now being processed.
- This development has addressed major environmental issue and brought large quantities of unprocessed scrap under processing.
c. We are the pioneers in introducing additives like Dessichem & ChamakShakti in India for the first time.
- These have been found invaluable as additives in processing of recycled polymers.
- Polymer scrap is recycled in India in large quantities.
- Certain products like flexible Polyethylene irrigation pipe are India specific products. This product is manufactured from road waste / post consumer waste.
- Before the introduction of Dessichem and ChamakShakti, scrap of this flexible Polyethylene irrigation pipe was not easily process able and hence was processed in a limited way.
- Due to the usage of Dessichem, the scrap of flexible Polyethylene irrigation pipe became very convenient to process. As of the date, approximately 10,000 Mt /month of flexible Polyethylene irrigation pipe scrap is being processed.
- This has reduced the environmental footprint of the irrigation pipe processing sector.
